Seraphim's life began with a struggle. Born prematurely, thanks to an emergency caesarean section, the boy was born with a rare diagnosis - a ‘mirror’ heart. His heart beat faintly, located on the right side of the body rather than the left like most people's. Neonatologists fought for his life, injecting adrenaline and jump-starting his heartbeat. Seraphim spent the first few months in the hospital.
Unfortunately, the ordeal didn't end there. At six months old, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and strabismus. Now Serafim is six years old, and despite all the difficulties, he is enjoying life. Doctors allowed him to watch cartoons, but because of his divergent strabismus he sees the world indistinctly and cannot focus his eyes on his favourite characters. Despite this, his intelligence is intact and he follows the story with passion.
The only chance to correct the situation is an eye operation, which unfortunately is not covered by compulsory health insurance. Serafima's mum is raising her son alone and is doing her best to alleviate his condition, but the family budget does not allow her to pay for the expensive treatment.
