Yaroslav came to St. Petersburg for treatment more than two years ago from an orphanage for the disabled in the Sverdlovsk region, where he had lived since birth.
The boy was born with an abnormality in the development of the spine and until the age of 10 moved only in a wheelchair. Doctors at the capital's clinic conducted a comprehensive examination and issued a verdict: he will be able to walk. Yaroslav underwent surgery, several stages of plastering.
Rehabilitation awaits him in order for Yaroslav to learn how to stand and walk on his feet for short distances.
The boy has no parents, he grew up in an orphanage. All this time, he had a 24–hour babysitter-assistant by his side. The boy simply couldn't have done without her.
