Nine-year-old Marat has been living in a foster family for two years now, but he still flinches and covers his head with his hands at loud noises. When he first joined the family, he appeared much younger for his age and was afraid to touch toys, speak, or move; he was constantly anticipating punishment.
When communicating with a psychologist, it was possible to find out that the boy was treated poorly in his birth family.
Living in a caring foster family has helped Marat become a bit more confident and brave, but he still does not interact with other children and is afraid of adults. He needs sessions with a psychologist to understand that he will no longer be punished for mistakes or for no reason at all.
We are raising funds to ensure that Marat and other children from foster families with similar issues can attend therapy sessions with a psychologist.
