When our ear hurts, we immediately go to the doctor. He examines the ear canal using a special device — an otoscope. Without it, the doctor will not be able to see the inflammation, injury, or foreign object.
Animals also suffer from ear diseases: their ears can hurt, fester, and itch. But animals can't talk about their pain. If the problem is not noticed in time, the animal may lose its hearing.
There are 500 tailed wards living in the Devoted Heart shelter, and our veterinarians regularly inspect their ears visually. But that's not enough.
Without an otoscope, it is impossible to look deep into the ear canal, which is where inflammation and infections most often develop. Otitis media, fungal lesions, neoplasms — all this can be detected in time and treatment can begin only if the necessary equipment is available.
