The girl's mother struggled for months to figure out the diagnosis until Ayla was diagnosed with "Frontal Plagiocephaly," that is, a congenital deformity of the skull, at 8 months of age. In such a disease, the coronal sutures fuse together and prevent the growth of the skull bones. The older Ayla gets, the more severe the deformity, which can lead to abnormal mental and physical development.
The only way out is surgery with the installation of special plates that open up the coronal sutures and allow the brain to grow. After the surgery, a doctor will monitor the girl for a year and provide rehabilitation.
