Dima Tikhanyonok is 15 years old, he has been missing his left hand since birth. He is a ninth-grader at a regular school, actively involved in swimming, and is even a reserve member of the Belarusian Paralympic team.
He has already had experience wearing various prostheses, but neither the cosmetic nor the working prosthesis issued to him by the state function as they should. Due to the fact that both prostheses are non-functional, the boy has begun to develop various diseases.
“Dima’s scoliosis has seriously worsened because it has grown rapidly over the past two years. Because he cannot use his arm, his shoulder has noticeably decreased. That is, the proportions are becoming smaller, the spine is distorted, and even one leg is two cm shorter due to the pelvic distortion. This was a shock to me,” says the boy’s mother, Victoria.
Dima needs a microprocessor-controlled forearm prosthesis to live a full life. The boy's parents can't afford to buy it. Let's all help the talented guy realize his dream.
