Lenya is 8 years old and finishing first grade. The boy swims, sings, and participates in a drama club. Lenya has cerebral palsy, but thanks to a multi-level surgery on his legs, rehabilitation, and constant practice, he can walk independently. He loves sports very much and often plays football with his dad — especially happy when he manages to score a goal.
Recently, Lenya completed a rehabilitation course at the Rodnik Children's Rehabilitation Center. The sessions included the Feldenkrais method, therapeutic physical training in the "Adeli" suit, and neuro-correction with a psychologist. The results were quick to show: the boy’s balance improved, his gait was corrected, his muscle support strengthened, and his movements became easier.
The sessions with the psychologist were especially valuable. The specialist identified his zone of proximal development, conducted training, and coached the parents. Lenya’s attention and memory improved, he learned to cooperate and to win fairly, and buttons that had long resisted his fingers were finally “conquered.” His understanding of math increased, and his narrative speech developed. Most importantly, the boy gained a desire to learn.
We express our deepest gratitude to everyone who helped Lenya complete this rehabilitation course. Thanks to your support, he has taken another step toward a full and active life.
