Umar has an autism spectrum disorder and delayed speech development. By the age of 2, the boy began to cry, scream and bang his head often, and the words and understanding of the converted speech disappeared. The parents contacted various specialists, but there was no result.
During intensive classes, Umar learned to imitate movements with an object, repeating after the teacher, to compare identical and non-identical pictures with images and objects, the boy's understanding of spoken speech improved. The specialist worked on developing Umar's "listener behavior", which made him more diligent and involved in classes. The PECS alternative communication system (communication using flashcards) was introduced to the boy.
In addition, tests were conducted for the child to determine the level of skills, on the basis of which an individual program for the development of academic skills and correction of Umar's undesirable behavior was developed. This program was transferred to the parents so that they could study with the boy after completing the rehabilitation course.
Thanks to classes with an instructor in adaptive physical education and a specialist in sensory integration, the boy learned how to perform exercises with a ball, jump, overcome obstacles, his large and small motor skills improved, and his ability to keep balance. Umar also underwent hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The use of hardware procedures certainly gave an impetus to the improvement of cognitive, speech and mental functions of the child.
Thanks to your help, Umar has completed a rehabilitation course! Thank you!
