Umar has an autism spectrum disorder and delayed speech development. By the age of 2, the boy began to cry, scream and bang his head frequently, and lost his words and understanding of spoken speech. The parents contacted various specialists, but there was no result.
As part of the course, Umar worked with specialists in AVA therapy, sensory integration, adaptive physical education and a speech therapist. The boy also underwent a course of hardware procedures, namely, hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Definitely, these procedures gave an impetus to the improvement of cognitive, speech and mental functions of the child!
At the beginning of his rehabilitation, Umar did not speak at all. The specialists focused on working on the boy's passive vocabulary and improving his understanding of spoken language. With a speech therapist, Umar learned to develop speech breathing, sing vowel sounds, and perform articulatory gymnastics. By the end of the lesson, the child learned to say the words: "mom", "I will", "bye"!
Thanks to the lessons, Umar also improved his physical and sensorimotor skills: he became much better at keeping his balance, learned how to throw a ball at a target and perform exercises while standing on a balance beam or swinging on a swing.
