Islamiya is a physical therapist at the Spina Bifida Foundation. She and 10 other specialists make home visits to the children in different cities of Russia, where our beneficiaries live. Where qualified help for children with congenital spinal defects is almost inaccessible and families are left without support.
During home visits, Islamiya consults parents on children's health issues, selects rehabilitation equipment, assesses the apartment and arranges an accessible environment, devises games and activities that are useful and accessible to the mentee despite physical limitations. Such support and professional assistance is extremely important for the Foundation's beneficiaries. Home visits help to identify the child's needs and limitations and plan medical routing.
In addition to face-to-face sessions, the Foundation's specialists do methodological work: writing recommendations for schools and kindergartens attended by children; preparing individual lesson plans; writing reports on the results of lessons with children and much more.
Such work should also be paid. After all, the quality of visits and, as a result, the process of recovery of a child diagnosed with spina bifida depends on the planning of work with children.
Support the work of the Foundation and dozens of children diagnosed with spina bifida will receive timely help!
