12-year-old Artemy Gangan is in dire need of regular rehabilitation courses. The boy has autism and focal epilepsy.
“At 2 years and 2 months, Artemy started having febrile seizures, and our life was completely turned upside down. Each seizure caused great harm to Tyomochka (the seizures were long, and he constantly needed intensive care), his skills gradually disappeared, and autistic behavioral traits appeared,” said the boy’s mother, Irina Gangan.
Two years later, doctors were able to put Tyom into drug remission. Since then, his parents have had to constantly buy the necessary medications in Europe, because domestic analogues are not suitable for him. In addition, to acquire new skills and abilities, the child needs to undergo ABA therapy, an effective method of behavior correction.
The parents are doing everything possible to instill independence in their son. “It’s very disappointing to understand that success depends on financial capabilities,” she says. All the earnings and savings of the Gangan family go to Tyoma's treatment, and there is no longer enough money for classes with ABA therapists.
