Bagatyr is only 16 years old, and his story is full of resilience and hope. Since early childhood, he did not look into the eyes, did not respond to addressed speech and did not respond to his name. His physical development lagged behind, and he took his first steps only after two years. Doctors diagnosed him with delayed speech development with elements of autism.
First of all, a special ABA-test was conducted for Bagatyr to determine the current level of his skills and identify incentives. Thanks to the completed testing, a long-term individual development program was developed for the boy, which contains specific recommendations for further work with him, exercises and approaches that will allow him to continue working on Bagatyr's development both in the classroom and at home.
Bagatyr was active in the classroom with a speech therapist, now he can name more than 20 sounds that are available to him, and he began to communicate more actively using gestures and special PECS flashcards. Specialists also worked on developing the child's basic academic skills – distinguishing actions, colors, tact, shapes, sizes, and expanding the repertoire of requests. Bagatyr coped well with the tasks set, the boy became more diligent and attentive, and most importantly, he became interested in the cognitive process and learning!
Thanks to classes with specialists in sensory integration and adaptive physical education, Bagatyr has significantly improved his physical and sensorimotor skills, especially large and fine motor skills, a sense of balance, and hitting the target. During the course, the boy worked out on various simulators, learned how to pedal and pass an obstacle course.
