Rashid is 10, he has ichthyosis, a severe genetic disease in which the process of keratinization of the skin is disrupted, which is why it cannot retain moisture. The skin becomes very dry, flaky, prone to cracks and inflammation.
The boy needs daily comprehensive skin care: moisten it with special products several times a day, use mild cleansing preparations for bathing to get rid of keratinized scales. This is the only way to avoid complications and somehow cope with the feeling of tightness of the skin and constant itching. However, Rashid's family cannot afford everything they need in the right amounts: parents save creams, apply them less often than necessary. This is not enough to keep the skin healthy.
The Butterfly Children Foundation has been helping Rashid's family for a long time — we provide the necessary care facilities, periodically organize hospitalization and pay for travel. Now we are raising funds so that Rashid can have full-fledged care: atopic cosmetics for baths, creams, emollients, healing ointments. This is not a luxury, but a daily necessity.
With proper support, a child with ichthyosis can learn, communicate and develop like everyone else. Help Rashid grow up self—confident - with a sense of comfort and care, not pain and unanswered questions.
