Sofia is 6, and this fall she will go to the first grade. But when the girl was born, it was not at all obvious that she would be able to attend school full-time. Smart, kind and responsible beyond her years, the baby lives with a serious illness that cannot yet be cured, but can be kept under control with regular and expensive care.
Sofia has a rare form of ichthyosis. It is a genetic disease in which the skin is very dry, inflamed, prone to cracking, itching and peeling. To preserve the barrier functions of the skin, it needs to apply special products to the whole body several times a day — softening, moisturizing, healing. This is not cosmetics, but a vital therapy.
The family is doing everything to help Sofia. Her parents taught her to talk openly about her diagnosis, to explain that it was not contagious. But every new place, every new team is a test. The girl worries when people pay too much attention to her. That's why it's so important that her skin looks better, so that she feels more confident and can live without pain, shyness and restrictions.
We are collecting funds for care products for Sofia: emollients, cleansers, moisturizers, ointments. All this is expensive, but it is required every day and in large quantities — the girl is growing, and her skin still needs protection.
Support Sofia — this is an investment in her peaceful childhood, health and the right to just be a child.
