The work of social curators is very important for the Foundation. They identify the key needs of crisis families and develop practical solutions in the form of specialized programs. Their role as an intermediary between institutions helps to allocate resources effectively and prevent duplication of efforts.
With your support, the social curators were able to help a young father bring his daughters home. The Altai Region's guardianship office informed Alexey, who lives in Smolensk, that his daughters were at risk of being placed in an orphanage due to his ex-wife's serious illness. Alexey recently remarried, and his wife, Maria, has just given birth to a baby. However, she supported her husband in taking his children back to their family. The Biysk and Smolensk child welfare agencies, together with the Foundation, agreed on an action plan, planned a difficult route from Biysk to Smolensk with the children, and purchased tickets.
Now the girls live in a new family together with their 8-month-old brother. All this time, the Foundation has been by their side. How did we help?
1. The social curator provided emotional support to the family, advised them on household matters, and helped them move from a cramped room to a more spacious apartment. 2. The humanitarian service assisted with repairs. They also provided clothing and footwear for the children.
3. The psychologists set themselves the task of long-term family support, at the 1st stage - focus on the adaptation of children, the family as a whole, the prevention of mother's burnout.
4. The lawyer advised parents on legal issues: an apartment from the state, documents, benefits, kindergarten.
We managed to make sure that the children did not end up in an institution. But there is a lot of work ahead to stabilize the new family system. This is a challenge with an asterisk, as the mother's two older children are adopted, and the family suddenly became a large family, and the parents have no experience in raising children of kindergarten age.
This story is a great example of cooperation between the government and the Foundation. It inspires and encourages us!

Let's help Karina and other young mothers with experience of orphanhood
Helping families in crisis is always a long job. For example, the Karina family from Yaroslavl has been supported by the Our Children Foundation for over a year.
In January 2024, the social curator and psychologist of the foundation first went home to Karina and her five-month-old baby. The young mother, who herself was brought up in an orphanage, did not know how to register a child and issue the required payments. The living conditions raised concerns among the guardianship authorities.
Over the past year, Karina's life has changed. The fund helped to draw up documents and make repairs in the room, provided essentials and food. Karina was taught basic household skills, budget planning and legal frameworks. The phase of the acute crisis was overcome and the attention to the family from the guardianship authorities decreased.
Support the work of the social curators of the Our Children Foundation: thanks to their work, children grow up in a family, not in an orphanage! This collecting will allow to pay one and a half months of work of the social curator. Each social curator simultaneously helps 10-12 families with children in a difficult life situation.
