Amir is only six, but he already knows hospital walls better than playgrounds. Since birth, any cold for him is a risk of bronchitis, pneumonia, otitis or sore throat. 10-11 times a year his body loses to infections. Two years ago doctors found a lump under his rib, and then - a terrible diagnosis: primary immunodeficiency.
Year after year, the family and medical professionals searched for a drug that would help. Many drugs caused allergies or did not work. Finally, they found an immunostimulant that gave hope: Amir began to get sick less often, and remission appeared. But the drug is expensive, and it is not yet possible to get it on benefits.
Amir does not speak, he is behind in development, but he loves cars and works hard with a speech therapist. He needs a chance to catch up with his peers.
