Islom is an ordinary boy with an extraordinary strength of spirit. He loves to study, does his homework diligently and even learns the program he has to skip because of a serious illness. He has congenital immunodeficiency - a rare genetic disease that makes his body unable to fight infections. In his 10 years, Islom has endured endless pneumonias, surgeries, fungal organ damage and bone destruction. But despite the pain, he doesn't complain or give up. His mother Shakhnoza says, “He is amazingly resilient, but I can see how hard it is for him.” Now the boy is in therapy, and he is doing better.
