Abubakar recently turned 9 years old. The boy has been diagnosed with a psychological developmental disorder as well as an expressive speech disorder. Despite all the challenges, Abubakar is a bright and kind child.
He attended daily sessions with ABA therapy specialists, sensory integration therapists, adaptive physical education instructors, and a speech therapist-defectologist. The child also completed a course of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The combination of sessions and hardware procedures helped Abubakar achieve significant progress and advance in his development!
During the sessions, active work was done on forming requests using alternative communication through PECS cards, and tokens were introduced. The boy became much calmer and more attentive; by the end of the course, he could sit calmly during lessons, listen to the teacher, and even show interest in the exercises being performed!
Specialists also worked on developing Abubakar's gross and fine motor skills. Sensory integration and adaptive physical education sessions were conducted in a playful manner using special toys of various shapes, grains, and sports equipment. The child became better at controlling his movements, and his vestibular system stabilized.
