Only histological tests are done at the expense of the GMC. All other types of tests - breakdowns in chromosomes, mutations in genes, DEB tests, molecular genetic studies, etc. - are paid and often very expensive.
On average, a sick child needs 1 to 3 types of tests. The price of one analysis varies from 3600 to 28000 rubles. And the inhabitants of small towns and villages in Bashkortostan are simply not able to find that kind of money. Besides, many tests are done in the first days of the disease, when the parents have not even had time to register their disability or allowance.
About ten new children with cancer are admitted for treatment each month. The Foundation supports such children and pays monthly for tests in Yekaterinburg and Moscow. In Ufa there are no laboratories with modern and technologically advanced equipment for these tests.
We are collecting money to pay for specialized tests in July and August for 20 children at Dmitry Rogachev National Medical Research Center of Children's Hematology, Oncology and Immunology and Ekaterinburg Regional Children's Clinical Hospital №1, as well as for the delivery of biomaterials to the laboratories regardless of whether the tests are paid or covered by the MHI.
