Viktoria Tarverdova is the first and deeply desired child in the family. She was born at 37 weeks via emergency caesarean section due to acute hypoxia and thrombocytopenia. The baby received 6 blood transfusions! Doctors saved her life, but warned that Vika would never be able to hold up her head, walk, stand or even recognize her family.
Vika and her mom were discharged only 2 months later. After another examination at Moscow’s Morozov Children’s Hospital, a neurologist diagnosed Vika with cerebral palsy and optic nerve atrophy.
Vika’s parents try to regularly attend rehabilitation courses with their daughter. Now Vika is 9 years old, she has learned to sit, walk with support and stand for short periods. Recently the girl underwent surgery on her leg, which requires recovery and the development of proper walking skills.
To achieve this, Vika needs special ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) and a leg brace. Let’s help Vika grow, develop and learn how to walk properly to improve her quality of life!
