Little Zayd came into this world just four months ago. He was born prematurely with multiple conditions: a heart defect, an aneurysm of the brain vessels, and intestinal inflammation. The baby was rushed to a Moscow hospital, where he underwent a complex surgery. Now, Zayd is fed through a tube, and his body, weakened by infections, cannot fight off diseases.
To help Zayd, he needs a high-tech genetic test called whole exome sequencing. This research is the key to an accurate diagnosis and, most importantly, to the right and effective treatment.
Despite all the difficulties, Zayd, like any child, longs for affection and warmth. He loves when his mother holds him — carefully, trying not to disturb the wires from the medical equipment that is keeping him alive.
