Bekzhan, 12, has lived with a severe heart defect since birth. He underwent his first surgery at six months, and suffered a stroke at two. Doctors later dilated his blood vessels, installed prostheses, and created new pathways for blood flow. These interventions allowed him to study and live near his friends.
Today, his heart is overloaded. His blood doesn't receive enough oxygen, so he tires quickly and can't play or exercise for long periods. Doctors are detecting holes in the septa and high blood pressure in his lungs.
Cardiologists at the Filatov Children's City Clinical Hospital scheduled him for hospitalization in October. The treatment plan includes examination, closure of excess vessels, and dilation of arteries. The surgery requires specialized equipment: vascular balloons, catheters, coils, and other consumables.
