Masha was born prematurely at 28 weeks, weighing only 1,330 grams.
At first, she was doing well — breathing on her own and gaining weight — but when she was three months old, her parents noticed a swelling on her head. Doctors diagnosed an abscess in the right hemisphere of her brain, and Masha had to undergo emergency surgery. Thankfully, her intellect was preserved, but movement disorders appeared, and by the age of one she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.
Since then, the family has been doing everything possible to help Masha recover — regular rehabilitation courses, massage, physical therapy, speech therapy, and home exercises. In 2023, Masha underwent surgery to install a baclofen pump at the Veltischev Research Institute, opening new opportunities for her rehabilitation.
Masha is a kind, bright, and hardworking girl. She loves reading books with her mom and playing with her younger sister. She has already learned the alphabet and is now in the second grade through distance learning. Her teachers note her excellent memory and curiosity.
