As soon as the snow melts, we not only start to enjoy the sunshine and warmth, but we also remember that it's "tick season”. Since our shelters are located in a forest area, this is very important to us - before the onset of cold weather, we must treat animals several times during the season with a remedy that will protect them from the terrible disease - pyroplasmosis. Pyroplasmosis develops when a dog is bitten by a tick. The disease is severe and, if untreated, can end in the death of the animal. Unfortunately, this spring we encountered a similar situation: after a walk, the dog Agat, who lives in our shelter, refused to eat, was lethargic and inactive. Fortunately, the shelter staff noticed it in time and asked for help. Agat was quickly diagnosed correctly and given inpatient treatment. This story ended successfully. But if we had not treated our dogs regularly with anti-tick drops, there would have been many more cases of pyroplasmosis. The disease is especially terrible for puppies and older dogs, who carry it very severely, and often the outcome is unfavorable. In order to treat 800 dogs in our shelters we need 800 packages of anti-tick drops at a cost of 200 rubles per package. Just 200 rubles can save the life of one dog!
