Andrei passed the examination
Spina bifida
Foundation • Moscow
Mom and Andrei came to Moscow from the Moscow region. It wasn't a long trip, but the reason was important: Andrei was to be examined by a neuro-urologist.
Andrej has spina bifida and his kidneys and urinary system do not function correctly. In order to keep his kidneys healthy, he needs to undergo annual comprehensive urodynamic examinations - CUDI. Thanks to this examination, the doctor knows whether additional therapy is needed.
Andrey's mother told us: "From the first moment the doctor Galina Tishchenko made him feel comfortable. I was worried whether my son would contact the doctor, because it depended on whether the examination would be successful. But everything went well - with an interesting conversation and watching a cartoon for Andrei. The doctor explained everything to me clearly and explained everything in the right way, she commented on each of her actions. Many thanks to the "Spina Bifida" Foundation and everyone who helped with the fund-raising for getting us to the examination."
Andrei got to the doctor very timely. Because the problems were detected only at the stage of their development. A treatment was prescribed for the boy to help him avoid dangerous consequences for his kidneys.

Andrei needs to be examined
Little Andrei dreams of becoming a train driver. He knows everything about the subway and electric trains. And when he has to go somewhere, he always asks his mother to take public transportation, because it's so great to go and look out of the tall bus window at the world around you.
Andrei has spina bifida. It is a congenital defect of the spine. Right after birth he had to undergo several surgeries. Because of the diagnosis Andrew cannot feel his legs and he moves around in a wheelchair. In spite of all the difficulties, the boy is growing up incredibly cheerful. Rarely does a smile leave his face.
But in addition to his visible dysfunction, Andrei, like all children with spina bifida, has dysfunction of his kidneys and urinary system. And to correct these problems the boy must necessarily pass a comprehensive urological examination (CUDI).
Thanks to this examination the doctors will understand how to correct the urinary system functioning, and Andrei will not have to wear diapers all the time. Waiting with this examination in no way possible - the boy could have the most severe complications. His kidney function will be so severely impaired that it will become life-threatening.
But CUDI is not on the list of mandatory medical examinations that a child undergoes when a disability is established. Polyclinic doctors rely on standard examination protocols - blood and urine tests. This is why parents often learn about the necessity of undergoing an annual CUDI for a child with spina bifida from the staff of our foundation.
The "Spina bifida" Foundation raises money to pay for the examination, which will help doctors to understand how to treat Andrei. To make him smile more often!
