Katya's rehabilitation was very productive!

Katya was four months old when she was diagnosed with liver cancer. At the time, she was in critical condition. Thanks to the timely care provided by doctors at the Dmitry Rogachev National Medical Research Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, and Immunology in Moscow, Katya's condition improved, but the disease left numerous sequelae, and she requires ongoing support and rehabilitation. During her treatment, Katya underwent 13 chemotherapy cycles and underwent external bile duct drainage. Three times a year, the mother and daughter traveled to Moscow to have the drainage replaced and undergo examinations. Three years later, the drainage was removed. Until June 2025, Katya was undergoing ongoing monitoring at the Moscow Oncology Center to monitor the progress of the disease. Katya's condition is currently stable, but even a common cold can cause internal bleeding, as happened this summer. She required surgical intervention at the Perm Regional Children's Clinical Hospital, a blood transfusion, and observation in the hematology department of the Perm Oncology Center. Due to long-term treatment, Katyusha is significantly behind her peers in her development, and she has speech and social adaptation issues. She requires specialized pediatric rehabilitation on a regular basis, every three months.
