Artem Kostandyan is 12 years old and has a rare disease called primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD). Because of his illness, his lungs cannot clear themselves of mucus on their own, and every day—in the morning and in the evening—Artem needs to take inhaled medication so that he can breathe freely and prevent exacerbations.
Right now, things are especially tough for the family: their city has regular power outages. In the summer, they went without electricity for two days straight. They learned how to cook on a gas burner, but there's no way to replace the inhaler. Artem can't go without his treatments. His mother is asking for help to buy a portable inhaler that runs on batteries so that her son does not miss his treatment even in emergency situations.
Artem loves to draw and attends art school. But he finds it difficult at regular school — he is often ill, misses classes, and then tries to catch up.
