Twelve-year-old Makkia has cerebral palsy. She doesn't walk or speak, is homeschooled, and spent most of her childhood in rehabilitation programs. She recently underwent orthopedic surgery to improve her mobility, reduce pain and spasticity, and, most importantly, expand her potential to overcome the effects of cerebral palsy. Doctors now recommend her to use a standing frame daily: this is essential for proper recovery.
A standing frame helps her achieve the correct body position, reduces pain and tension after surgery, supports muscles and joints, and improves circulation. Daily exercises strengthen her legs and help the body master new movements during the most crucial period of recovery.
Fragile and petite in appearance, Makkia is incredibly strong inside. She dreams of walking, strives hard in every session, and gets very upset when she fails, but she never gives up. Her persistence is an important step toward overcoming cerebral palsy, but not the most important: without following the doctors' recommendations, she will not succeed.
Her mother, raising four children alone, cannot afford a standing frame for her child. Your support will help Makka continue to rebuild her home and get closer to her dream of taking her first steps.
