Sonya is only six months old, a smiling, charming little girl who already shows interest in rattles, coos, and smiles at her mother.
She was born healthy, with a good weight and a high Apgar score. Until September of this year, Sonya was no different from her peers, delighting her parents every day with her new achievements: she learned to hold her head up, roll over, and make her first sounds.
In September, her belly grew larger, she developed a high fever, and became whiny and restless. After a full examination, doctors discovered a tumor in the retroperitoneal space and transferred her to the Blokhin Cancer Center. As part of additional diagnostics, doctors recommend extensive genetic testing. This will help better understand the disease, assess the characteristics of her immune system, and determine the most effective treatment for Sonya.
