The twins Husan and Hasan Zhuraevs were born in 2004. The parents couldn't be happier - day in and day out they were happy to see their seemingly healthy babies grow up. But suddenly, at nine months of age, Husan broke his leg, and just three months later, for the first time, Hasan also broke. After that, the fractures began to happen one after another.
Husan and Hasan's parents tried their best to help their "fragile" children, but it was impossible to get help in Uzbekistan. Only in 2013 did their mothers manage to bring their sons to Russia, where they were finally operated on, reinforcing their bones with metal plates and spokes. After the cast was removed, the boys underwent their first-ever therapy. And then the family returned to Uzbekistan, and there Husan and Hasan underwent treatment every four months, even though the necessary medications were hard to come by their parents.
Two years ago, the Fragile People Foundation helped the boys get back to Russia. At the Turner Institute in St. Petersburg they were fully examined, the plates and spokes were removed and the first telescopic pins were inserted into their tibia bones. There were significantly fewer fractures and the boys had hope that they would be able to walk!
To make this a reality, the boys need surgery again, without which their fragile bones will not withstand the strain of walking. Hasan and Husan are very smart and hardworking kids, they study well and have won prizes in chess tournaments more than once. In addition, they work online with a physical therapist from the Fragile People Foundation and are gradually getting stronger - they are slowly learning to stand up with crutches.
Surgeries are very expensive and the Zhuraevs family, with two other children, simply cannot afford the large sum. Support Hassan and Hussan, help them stand on their feet with confidence!
