Avdey was born prematurely, suffered severe hypoxia, and spent his first days on a ventilator. By the time he was one year old, the family was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and a number of severe related disorders. Over the course of 12 years, the parents consulted numerous specialists and underwent various forms of rehabilitation, but unfortunately, no improvement was achieved. Avdey is now unable to sit, walk, talk, or eat regular food independently. He has vision problems and cannot control his emotions. Pseudobulbar syndrome makes feeding and care particularly challenging.
The family has accepted the incurability of his illnesses, but daily care remains a tremendous burden, both physical and emotional. Avdey has been recognized as requiring palliative care, which requires creating the safest and most comfortable conditions possible at home. Simple hygiene procedures, including bathing, become dangerous and labor-intensive, as the child must be held completely in one's arms.
A specialized bathing lounger will allow Avdey to be safely positioned in the water, supporting his body in the correct position and eliminating the risk of falls and injuries. It will significantly facilitate care, reduce the burden on parents, and make bathing a calm and comfortable ritual rather than an ordeal.
