Safiya is only eight years old, and she has been diagnosed with severe cerebral palsy with spastic tetraparesis. The girl was born prematurely, at the 25th week of pregnancy, and weighed only 580 grams. Immediately after birth, doctors discovered that she had a lesion of the white matter of the brain (leukomalacia PVL). The baby spent almost fifty days in a special medical cuvette, and for the first three months of her life she was in the neonatal pathology department.
At the age of six months, the girl began to have severe epileptic seizures, and until the age of two, all therapy was aimed specifically at treating epilepsy. It was only when the seizures receded that the parents were able to begin their daughter's regular rehabilitation. However, soon, against the background of another increase in body temperature, a relapse of seizures occurred, and my mother again had to interrupt the rehabilitation program she had started. This led to the loss of many previously acquired skills.
Despite everything, little Safiya continues to show incredible fortitude and determination to move forward. She desperately wants to learn how to walk, although she is not yet able to fully talk. Even though she has no speech, her will to move is obvious to anyone who watches how hard she tries to stand up and take a step, holding on to the supports. Now the girl still needs intensive support from specialists, because the restoration of motor skills becomes more difficult with age. Due to the difficult financial situation of the family, they are not able to pay for an expensive course of treatment on their own.
