"When Nadya first arrived, her gaze often seemed distant, as if she were somewhere far away. But now she hangs on every word, points out her 'zoo' on the refrigerator, and tries to do everything herself," shares nanny Svetlana.
Nadya, who was confined to a wheelchair, went through complex treatment without breaking down. Her nanny, Svetlana, was by her side every day—she helped, took her to activities, and simply talked, giving the girl confidence.
Now Nadya is finishing her treatment—preparing for a dental appointment—to finally return home. Her story is a success story, made possible by having a close adult.
But there are many other children who, like Nadya, are undergoing long and complex treatment. For them, weeks and months in hospitals and the Foundation's Social Center are a time when they especially need not only medical care but also simple human compassion.
