He was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome — a critical condition in which the left side of his heart is underdeveloped and nonfunctional. However, physicians know how to restore proper function to this vital organ.
Usman underwent his first surgery on the second day of life, followed by two additional procedures. At three months old, his blood vessels began narrowing, necessitating an urgent fourth intervention.
Despite these formidable challenges, Usman is a curious and attentive boy. He carefully watches his toys, listens intently, and strives to move. Yet even minimal exertion is extremely difficult for him. He tires quickly during feeding, struggles to hold his head up for extended periods, and develops cyanosis (bluish discoloration of the lips) and shortness of breath while crying.
Usman urgently needs another major operation now — the reconstruction of the left side of his heart. His parents have managed to secure partial funding, but it is insufficient to cover the full cost of treatment. Delaying the surgery is not an option. This procedure represents his only chance to continue growing and developing.
