Ekaterina is raising three daughters alone. The eldest girl studies at a comprehensive school, and the younger ones, six—year—old twins Serafima and Stefania, have developmental disabilities.: They don't talk, but communicate through gestures and sounds.
The girls were born healthy and initially developed in accordance with age norms. However, by the age of three, the twins had not developed speech. Ekaterina began to notice other disturbing signs: sleep disorders, frequent moods, vocalizations. In an attempt to cope on her own, my mother withdrew, refused to attend kindergarten and studied with the girls at home. Over time, accumulated fatigue, emotional burnout and social isolation led to a crisis situation — the family came under the supervision of guardianship authorities.
The foundation came to the rescue, and a social supervisor joined in the work with the family. Ekaterina, together with a specialist, began a difficult but necessary path of passing a commission with younger children to make a diagnosis. There are still many tasks ahead, including enrolling children in specialized schools and their socialization.
This fee will allow us to pay for a month of work as a social supervisor who simultaneously accompanies 12 families in crisis. In many ways, thanks to the work of a social supervisor, children in these families can live at home with their relatives, rather than in an orphanage.
