Her parents abandoned her at the maternity hospital after learning she had spina bifida. In March, she came to Moscow for an examination. She recently started school. School can't accommodate her in person yet, but a teacher visits her three times a week. Last year, she tried cooking for the first time. Now, her favorite dish is waffles with whipped cream and fruit. We help pay for nannies for children hospitalized without their parents. Some of them have no one to turn to at all – they are orphans, abandoned children, or those removed from disadvantaged families. Others have parents, but they cannot be hospitalized full-time due to serious circumstances. For all of them, a nanny becomes the close adult every child needs.
