In Uzbekistan, doctors could not help little Shahina, and she lost vision in her right eye due to a malignant tumor of the optic nerve - medulloepithelioma. To save the child, her parents took her into debt and brought her to Moscow, to the Blokhin Cancer Center. Unfortunately, it was impossible to save her eye, but they saved her life and keep fighting the cancer.
Not every adult could have withstood as much as this little and headstrong girl did during the three years of treatment. Several courses of chemotherapy, loss of hair and eyebrows, getting used to an eye prosthesis, hours of nausea and dizziness... The other day Shahina and her mother flew to Moscow again: nobody knows yet how many more times she will have to go through and how many hospitalizations she will have to undergo.
And Shahina in hospital, of course, is very bored, and at home is not very happy. She cannot go for a walk, go to the kindergarten, or socialize with other children. The girl's treatment is being paid for by our colleagues from other charitable foundations. We ask to give the child some joy - Shahina dreams of a tablet which will allow her to watch her favorite cartoons while she is in hospitals, and to communicate with her grandmother, brother and a few friends by video link. Dad left the family this summer, and Mom is now alone in managing debts, Shahina's medical treatment, and expenses for the children, of whom there are three in the family. And even an inexpensive tablet is an unaffordable purchase for this family.
