Fundraising for a social worker who supports families in crisis

For several years now, Svetlana has been raising her two children, Zhenya and Vika, alone. Thirteen-year-old Zhenya is almost an adult, but the entire burden falls on Svetlana's shoulders, as two-year-old Vika has been struggling with the effects of cerebral palsy since birth. Their dilapidated house on the outskirts of the city is heated with wood, if they can afford it. A poorly heated house and a lack of adequate nutrition means the children are at risk of being removed from their family! A foundation came to Svetlana's aid immediately; the social worker said, "We'll sort this out together, step by step. We won't send the children to an orphanage!" The foundation is now helping with food and other supplies, and a lawyer has taken on the task of collecting child support from the children's father. This collection will allow us to pay for a month's work for a social worker, who simultaneously supports 12 families in crisis. Thanks in large part to the social worker's work, the children in these families are able to live at home with their families, rather than in an orphanage.
