Dogs in shelters need tick prevention treatments

Vernost

Foundation Yaroslavl region

Protecting dogs from ticks is a vital part of looking after your pet’s health and preventing serious illnesses in both animals and people: shelter staff, volunteers and visitors. Ticks carry a range of diseases, including piroplasmosis, anaplasmosis and Lyme disease. Therefore, timely prevention is key to ensuring a long and healthy life for the dog and the safety of visitors and staff. The tick season for dogs begins in early spring. Ticks emerge from hibernation as soon as temperatures consistently rise above freezing and small patches of bare ground appear. Activity peaks in April and May. Until late autumn, the organisation bears the enormous cost of treatment. But this is far cheaper and safer than treating pets for serious illnesses. Please help us ensure the safety of our dogs and the people who care for them. Even a small donation can save lives!
