Kolya was born prematurely at 31 weeks of pregnancy, weighing 1850 grams. He spent a month in intensive care, where he suffered a brain hemorrhage and retinopathy. After being discharged from the hospital, the boy was prescribed medication, and from the age of five months, he began constant rehabilitation.
The diagnosis of cerebral palsy was given to Kolya at 1 year and 4 months. The diagnosis of epilepsy appeared at 2 years and 9 months, after the onset of seizures.
Now the boy is 10 years old. He can crawl on all fours, sit, kneel, stand up and walk while holding onto support, and move with assistance under his arms. Recently, he learned to squat. Kolya does not speak, but he partially understands spoken language and sometimes follows requests. Occasionally, he can repeat words.
Nikolai really loves musical instruments, musical toys, and swimming in the pool. He also enjoys watching cartoons. The boy is growing up kind, affectionate, cheerful, and curious. Every day for him is a continuous struggle for a new movement, for a new sound.
On the doctor's recommendation, Kolya needs to undergo a nocturnal video EEG monitoring examination every six months, because seizures occur at night. Currently, Kolya's family needs help paying for this examination and a consultation with an epileptologist.
