Timur has cerebral palsy. He needs a special wheelchair

At 27 weeks of pregnancy, an ultrasound revealed underdevelopment of the baby's cerebellum. Timur was born with cerebral palsy. He is now 10 years old. He doesn't walk, crawl, or speak. He only gets around in a wheelchair. He communicates through gestures and pictures—words are not yet available. Still, Timur has learned to read. He knows numbers and can solve simple math problems. He does hippotherapy — he loves horses and sits in the saddle without adult support. His interests include books and pictures. The family lives in Kazan, in an apartment with a mortgage. His mother Elizaveta does not work right now — caring for Timur and his two younger sisters takes all her time. The parents are divorced. The grandparents live nearby. Timur needs a specialized stroller wheelchair — lightweight and convenient for trips to rehabilitation sessions and activities. "I believe in my child," says Elizaveta. "You should never give up."
