Before getting the coronavirus, Adam grew up healthy. In August 2021, after suffering from coronavirus, the child was taken to the hospital with vomiting. The situation was critical. A CT scan showed lung involvement and enlarged tonsils. Hemoglobin was falling, blood transfusions did not help, and 4-year-old Adam was urgently taken to Moscow for tests.
The doctors could not make a diagnosis for a few days, the case was so complicated for the baby. At the otolaryngology department of the Morozov Hospital, little Adam was put into medicated sleep to take a biopsy of his tonsils, and after an additional vascular examination, doctors determined the cause of the sudden deterioration in his health.
The boy was diagnosed with an internal carotid artery aneurysm. This means that the vessel dilated, a clot formed, which blocked the blood flow to part of the brain. Unfortunately, in Adam's case, the location of the vessel does not allow it to be replaced. The only thing the doctors could do was to block part of the damaged vessel. The operation was successful, and the baby is gradually coming around. He is learning to breathe and swallow again. His mother does not move a step away from him and supports him.
Over the past month the family has experienced dramatic days and nights. The parents have managed so far on their own, but now they need our help desperately! Adam needs a serious rehabilitation at the Three Sisters to regain mobility in his left arm and leg, and to recover from the surgery.
