Thanks to your help, Demid underwent successful surgery!

Demid was born at 28 weeks, a severe prematurity. Immediately after birth, he developed an intraventricular hemorrhage, then hydrocephalus, and a shunt was inserted. In his short life, at just six years old, Demid has already undergone approximately 10 shunt surgeries and one eye surgery for retinopathy of prematurity. Demid was also diagnosed with cerebral palsy, and recently, epilepsy has been added. Despite all this, Demid is a bright, energetic boy with intact intellect. He has some developmental delays, but he has a very high potential for independent walking and a full life. For nine months, Demid has been undergoing ongoing rehabilitation. Unfortunately, it hasn't been producing the desired results: his limbs have begun to contract. This means his muscles are gradually shortening, his joints are losing mobility, and if nothing is done, he may remain permanently immobile. Doctors prescribed SDR (selective dorsal rhizotomy). This is a minimally invasive neurosurgical procedure that specifically cuts or destroys the nerve fibers causing the excruciating spasticity. Conservative treatment is no longer helping. The surgery will relieve the abnormal tone, and then rehabilitation will finally begin. Without this surgery, the contractures will become irreversible. Time is literally ticking. Demid's mother is raising him alone and is desperately short of funds.
