Gleb has epidermolysis bullosa. For him, an ordinary touch is a risk of injury, and proper dressing is real protection. At birth, the boy had almost no skin on his leg and fingers, and mistakes in care at the outset greatly complicated the situation. The turning point was hospitalization in Moscow and the support of the “Children‑Butterflies” foundation: it was there that the parents learned the most important thing — how to take care of their son day after day.

Right now, caring for Gleb is not just a procedure, but a system: multi‑layer dressings, special ointments and creams work like a “second skin”. Without them, any movement can turn into pain, but with them, Gleb gets a chance to be active and simply live like a child should.

Gleb has epidermolysis bullosa and needs special skin care products

One of the first words of 1.5‑year-old Gleb was "boom". The baby knows that if he falls, not only a bruise will form on the skin, but also a wound. Gleb was born with epidermolysis bullosa, a skin injury caused by the slightest touch.

At birth, the boy had no skin on his leg and fingers. Local doctors could not immediately diagnose and made mistakes in their care: they did not do bandages, used bruises and patches that broke off along with the skin. Mom managed to get hospitalized in Moscow, where experts from the Butterfly Children Foundation diagnosed her and taught her parents how to care.

Now Gleb is growing up active and inquisitive, but he needs daily bandages and multi-stage skin care. "We just can't survive without bandages and ointments," says Gleb's mother. "They serve as a second skin for the baby."
