In April, bird rehabilitation centers in Anapa began reporting the arrival of new oil-contaminated birds. They're arriving not just one or two at a time, but dozens, even hundreds. The centers' specialists are meticulously cleaning their feathers, providing veterinary care, and creating conditions for the birds' recovery. In recent days, volunteers have received and cleaned over 700 birds.
The cause is an oil slick discovered 11 kilometers from Anapa. Wind is blowing it toward the Anapa-Vityazevo coast. Environmentalists suspect the slick is the result of drone attacks on civilian ships. This means there will soon be many reports of birds affected by oil pollution.
"No More Garbage" has been working closely with the Zhemchuzhnaya Rehabilitation Center (Anapa, Vityazevo) since December 2024. Volunteers are now asking for help rescuing the birds: supplies, equipment, and supplies are urgently needed to build aviaries. Weakened birds will be rehabilitated there under the supervision of volunteers.
The situation demands immediate action: the faster we raise funds, the more birds we can save. Delays in delivering materials could endanger the lives of birds already brought to the center and prevent the admission of new ones.
