Lilya is 11 years old and comes from the Kemerovo region. She arrived at the orphanage only last year, having previously lived in a disadvantaged family. Since then, Lilya has either crawled or used a wheelchair.
Her nanny, Svetlana, explains: “Lilya is a multifaceted individual. She works with a speech therapist and physical therapy instructor every day, studies online, reads, and loves drawing and sculpting. All this work fuels her mind and spirit. It’s what keeps her going.”
She underwent complex orthopedic surgery in Moscow. And just recently, a miracle occurred: she took her first steps in life—with support, for now.
Lilya is currently at the Road of Life Foundation’s Social Center, where 10 other orphans live. They all need help and support, so we’ve organized individual physical therapy sessions with the children. Every day is a small victory: taking a more confident step, standing longer than yesterday.
We're raising funds to pay for a physical therapy instructor at the Center. Thanks to this, Lilia and other children will not just dream of walking, but work toward it, step by step.
