Sometimes, children, due to a serious illness, can't eat like us—their bodies simply don't accept regular food, meaning they can't grow and develop. This requires special therapeutic formulas, but it's difficult to acquire them on your own: they're expensive, and they always need a supply, because no one can stop eating.
Both girls currently live in a boarding school. One's mother can't take her in: she's seriously ill and needs help herself. The other girl's mother died. Her father loves her dearly and comes to visit when he can't get time off from work, but he simply can't afford expensive therapeutic nutrition alone.
