Safiya was born prematurely and with severe pathologies, but thanks to the doctors, she was able to overcome many difficulties. The girl developed within the normal range, spoke a few words, but at the age of 1.5, she contracted chickenpox and experienced a regression in her development. The little girl became withdrawn, stopped laughing and playing, and lost all the skills she had acquired. The specialists diagnosed residual encephalopathy, delayed psychoregulatory development, general underdevelopment of speech of the 1st level, sensorimotor alalia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with elements of autism.
Now Safia is 4 years old, she understands the spoken language at the everyday level, shows by gestures fruits, vegetables, animals and transport. Very recently the girl started to say a few words, but with others she communicates by gestures.
Safiya needs to undergo an intensive rehabilitation course with specialized professionals who will help her improve her self-care skills and expand her vocabulary.
