Bogdan has a very attentive gaze, the kind you see in children who grew up too early. And yet, he has a surprisingly bright smile. As if, despite everything, he still believes that something good is ahead.
Bogdan lives in an orphanage. Due to movement disorders, he cannot walk independently and uses a walker. We recently brought him to Moscow for a consultation with a renowned surgeon at the Central Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics (CITO). The doctors are currently considering surgery that will help Bogdan stand more confidently on his feet. Ahead lie examinations, treatment, and a long rehabilitation period.
There are many children like Bogdan, and such a journey cannot be completed in a few days.
Between hospitals, consultations, and rehabilitation courses, children need a safe home. The foundation's Social Center, Domik, provides such a place for children from orphanages. Here, the children live during their treatment. Here, they are greeted by nannies, warm food, quiet rooms, care, and support. And most importantly, the opportunity to continue treatment close to the clinic, without interruption due to the thousands of kilometers it takes to travel home.
We're starting a fundraiser to keep the Domik going. We want to keep the lights on, the kitchen functioning, and the warm rooms for Bogdan and the other children who need to be safe during their long treatment.
Help us cover utility costs so the Domik can continue to operate and accommodate children who need support especially now.
