Friends, more than 500 cats live at the "Devoted Heart" shelter. Many come to us from the streets — weakened, sick, with a host of hidden problems. Kidneys and the urinary tract are especially common trouble spots.
To spot problems early, we need to run urine tests regularly. Urinalysis shows:
— whether there is inflammation in the kidneys or bladder;
— whether stones are forming;
— how the kidneys are functioning overall;
— whether there are hidden infections.
Currently, we send tests to veterinary labs. It's expensive, time‑consuming, and stressful for the animals. And most importantly, we can't test everyone as often as we'd like.
We have a dream — to buy our own urine analyzer. With it, we will be able to:
— run tests right at the shelter, getting results instantly;
— check all suspicious cats without added expense;
— monitor chronic patients over time;
— save thousands of rubles that can go toward other treatment.
The equipment is not cheap, but it will pay for itself within a few months of active use. More importantly, it will save many cat lives.
